Whipple Procedure, Pancreatoduodenectomy

Pancreatoduodenectomy or Whipple Procedure is a surgery performed for duodenal or pancreatic cancer. It's considered one of the most complex surgery. It is realized with the resection of distal stomach, a segment of bile duct, duodenum (small intestine) and the head of pancreas. Reconstruction is performed with the union of small bowel with the pancreas, the bile duct and stomach This surgery was performed by Adrian Cravioto MD a Surgical Oncologist from Mexico City, in a 55 year old female patient. The surgery time was 4 hours and the blood loss was 250mL.
