Human Cytogenetic Cancer Markers (Contemporary Biomedicine)

Human Cytogenetic Cancer Markers (Contemporary Biomedicine) Review

Human Cytogenetic Cancer Markers (Contemporary Biomedicine) Overview

Seventeen cutting-edge chapters review both basic research and clinical applications of chromosomal markers of cancer. The new markers offer great promise, not only for their clinical utility in diagnosis, prognosis, and disease monitoring, but also for their contributions to a better understanding of the mechanisms of tumor development and progression. The chapters-all written by leading authorities-skillfully reveal fresh insights into the translational role of cytogenetics in identifying the cellular and molecular changes that occur in cancer. Coverage is devoted to many tissue systems-colon, breast, prostate, lung, skin, brain, and kidney-where the diagnostic and prognostic utility of chromosome markers is clearly demonstrated. A seminal book certain to become the front-line reference and authoritative resource needed by all scientists and clinicians engaged in cancer research, diagnosis, and management.

Dr. Oleh Haluszka - For Physicians - Temple Digestive Disease

Oleh Haluszka, MD, has joined Temple University Hospital as Section Chief of Gastroenterology. Dr. Haluszka has focused on developing advanced endoscopic procedures that measurably improve the experiences and outcomes of his patients. He is expert in using interventional endoscopy to manage patients with GI bleeding, GI cancer and precancer, and diseases of the pancreas, bile ducts, liver, and gallbladder. His other specialties involve endoscopic ultrasound and placement of stents in blocked bile ducts or other GI passages. At Temple, Dr. Haluszka will continue to focus on therapeutic endoscopy—especially in managing GI malignancies, treating disorders of the small intestine, and collaborating in new types of bariatric and metabolic procedures. His other clinical aims at Temple will include creating novel instrumentation that allows endoscopists to perform real-time diagnosis and, thereby, act directly on what they find rather than waiting for pathology results. Dr. Haluszka's main research goals will include: new applications for endoscopic ultrasound; better visualization of the small bowel with enteroscopy; improved mucosal ablative therapies; and detection of novel biomarkers in GI tumors To schedule a patient appointment with Dr. Haluszka, call 215-707-9577. PreOp® Patient Education Endoscopy of Large Intestine 2

bit.ly or bit.ly - Patient Education - www.PreOp.comPatient Education Company Your doctor has recommended that you have a lower GI endoscopy. But what does that actually mean? A lower GI endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used by your doctor to inspect the inside of your rectum and colon. While it's considered a surgical procedure, endoscopy does not involve an incision. Instead, your doctor will pass a flexible tube, called an endoscope through your anus and into your rectum and colon. This tube has a tiny video camera mounted on its tip. It also contains a small tool used for taking tissue samples. Your doctor can use the endoscope to inspect the entire lower half of your digestive system. Patient Education Your doctor can use the endoscope to inspect the entire lower half of your digestive system. Movie In some cases, the shape of the colon makes it impossible to pass the endoscope as far into the body as the doctor would like. Your doctor may decide to take a series of x-rays - or even to perform surgery - in order to inspect the hidden area. Patient Education Reasons for undergoing a lower GI endoscopy vary. You may have been suffering from one or more of a number symptoms - including blood in your stool, weight loss, chronic irregularity or other problems associated with the digestive system. Some gastrointestinal symptoms can be warning signs of serious medical problems and you should take your doctor's recommendation to have an endoscopy very seriously. Luckily ...
